Card Notes
One of the fastest skaters in the NHL. Dave has consistently been one of the Leafs top scorers, never scoring less than 20 goals a season since turning pro. A real favourite with the fans because of his small stature and terrific speed.
Like a Topps hex, Dave Keon dropped below the 20 goal line for the 1966-67 season. He managed 19 goals in 66 games. The following year, it got worse with just eleven goals in 67 games.
However, Keon turned it around and had a 32 goal season in 1969-70 and a career best 38 goals in 1970-71. In 1972-73, Dave would surpass the 30 goal plateau for the last time with 37 goals in 76 games.
Despite his slightly lower goal production during the 1966-67 regular season, Keon was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy in the playoffs as the Toronto Maple Leafs captured the Stanley Cup championship.
Dave became captain a few years later, for the 1969-70 season. He remained until the end of 1974-75. At that point, he jumped to the World Hockey Association and the Minnesota Fight Saints.
