Details
1978-79 was a bit of a lull for Danny Gare. His numbers were reduced to 27 goals and 40 assists for 67 points. However, the following year, he bounced back with a career year. In 1979-80, Gare was in a three way tie as NHL goal scoring leader with 56 goals, equaling Charlie Simmer of the Los Angeles Kings and Blaine Stoughton of the Hartford Whalers.
Five of his 67 points in 1978-79 came during an April 5, 1979 beatdown of the Bruins at the Boston Garden. In a 9-3 win, Gare had three goals and two assists. It should be noted that Al Secord achieved the Gordie Howe Hat Trick for the Bruins in the game with a goal, assist and a third period fight with Larry Playfair.
Between 1974-75 and 1986-87, Danny Gare played in 827 regular season and 64 playoff games in the National Hockey League. Along with the Sabres, the 1974 second round pick also played for the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers.
