Details
Dale Tallon totaled 62 points in 1975-76, his first full season with the Chicago Blackhawks. The previous record was held by Doug Mohns with his 60 points in 1966-67. However, Mohns was often moved up to forward so the more plausible record he broke was Dick Redmond‘s 59 points from 1973-74.
That mark didn’t remain at the top for long. Doug Wilson had several seasons with the Hawks totaling more than 62 points. His 85 in 1981-82 stand today as the franchise record.
Tallon’s time with Pittsburgh, and the NHL, wouldn’t last long. He played 63 games with the Penguins in 1978-79 and just 32 more (plus 4 playoff games) in 1979-80 before retiring as a player.
Between 1970-71 and 1979-80, Dale Tallon played 642 regular season and 33 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins. The second overall pick at the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft came to Chicago from Vancouver in a May 14, 1973 trade for Jerry Korab and Gary Smith.
