Claude Larose played his first NHL playoff game on April 4, 1964 at the Montreal Forum against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He scored his first playoff goal at 12:03 of the second on Johnny Bower and assisted by Bobby Rousseau to give the Habs a 2-1 lead. Montreal went on to win 4-2 and take a 3-2 lead in the series. However, Toronto came back to win the next two games and take the semi-final series.
Larose seemed to like scoring on the Maple Leafs. Six of his 21 goals in 1964-65 were scored against the Buds. He had a pair on October 28, 1964 at Maple Leaf Gardens, including the game winner in the 5-2 victory for the visitors. Both his goals that night were scored on Bower and assisted by Gilles Tremblay.
Between 1962-63 and 1977-78, Claude Larose played 943 regular season and 97 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars and St. Louis Blues. The five time Stanley Cup champion when on to have a stint in the 1980’s as assistant coach of the Hartford Whalers.
