Details
Unfortunately for Camille Henry, he would play the entire 1965-66 season in the minors, playing 37 regular season and five playoff games in the CPHL with the St. Louis Braves. On February 4, 1965, Henry was traded from the New York Rangers to the Chicago Blackhawks with Don Johns and Billy Taylor for John Brenneman, Wayne Hillman and Doug Robinson. The 22 regular season and 14 playoff games he played for Chicago in 1964-65 was the only action he saw with the team.
Camille’s next shot at the NHL came in 1967-68 when he returned to the Rangers for half a season. Though no longer a standout, he did have a four point game on February 15, 1968 in a 6-2 road win over the Minnesota North Stars. Henry scored his sixth of the year on Minnesota goalie Cesare Maniago, assisted by Rod Gilbert and Jean Ratelle while also assisting on two goals by Ratelle and one by Gilbert.
In his 1964-65 campaign split between the Rangers and Blackhawks, Henry led the NHL with 16 power play goals, three more than runner-up Gordie Howe. Completely out of character for the perennial Lady Byng candidate who sat just 88 minutes over 727 career games, Henry was assessed a ten minute misconduct in the first game of the year, a 6-2 win over the Boston Bruins. He also had a goal and assist in the match.
He also recorded his sixth of seven NHL hat tricks, scoring three on Detroit goalie Roger Crozier shortly before his trade to Chicago. Interestingly, of his seven three goal games, five were against Detroit, including his first (and only 4-goal game) on March 13, 1954 in his Calder Trophy winning rookie year with the Rangers. In that game at Detroit Olympia, Camille put four past Terry Sawchuk in a 5-2 win.
Between 1953-54 and 1969-70, Camille Henry played 727 regular season and 47 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. Along with his Calder Trophy in 1953-54, Henry received the Lady Byng in 1957-58.
