Card Notes
This 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee 106 NHL hockey card contains an error (same error, multiple times) and is considered an uncorrected error card. The correct spelling of Campbell’s first name is Bryan. Throughout the card, it is misspelt Brian. This is Campbell’s rookie card. OPC got the spelling right on Bryan’s only other card during his NHL career, included in the 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee set.
About Bryan Campbell
The native of Sudbury, Ontario played 260 regular season and 22 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1967-68 and 1971-72 with the Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks. In fact, Campbell played just 31 games with the Kings in 1969-70 before being traded to Chicago on February 20, 1970.
He was joined on the journey to Illinois with goalie Gerry Desjardins and defenseman Bill White. Going to west in the deal were Denis DeJordy, Gilles Marotte and Jim Stanfield.
Bryan’s career didn’t end after the 1971-72 season, however. Campbell jumped to the newly formed World Hockey Association. In the WHA, he played in 433 regular season and just eight Avco World Trophy playoff games between 1972-73 and 1977-78.
His first WHA team was the Philadelphia Blazers. He followed the franchise to Vancouver and played there for the 1973-74 and 1974-75 campaigns. After just eight games with the Indianapolis Racers, he finished out his career with the Edmonton Oilers.
