Details

Bob Baun would play just five games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1972-73 before retiring as a player. Never a big goal scorer, Baun scored the last of his 37 career regular season goals during that five game stint.

On October 14, 1972, Toronto hosted the Los Angeles Kings at Maple Leaf Gardens. In a 6-4 Leafs win, Baun scored the first goal of the game, putting one past Gary Edwards with help from Rick Kehoe and Denis Dupere. He later assisted on a Ron Ellis goal for a rare two point game for the Boomer.

Between 1956-57 and 1972-73, Bobby Baun played 964 regular season and 96 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Maple Leafs, Oakland Seals and Detroit Red Wings. He was picked up by the Seals at the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft and returned to Toronto during the 1970-71 season.
