Brothers Barry and Brian Cullen both left the Toronto Maple Leafs after the 1958-59 season. Brian ended up with the New York Rangers while Barry obviously went to the Detroit Red Wings. Barry would play just the 1959-60 season in the NHL before carrying out the rest of his pro hockey career in the AHL. It wasn’t much better for Brian who two years with the Rangers before joining his brother with the Buffalo Bisons.
The season with the Winnipeg Warriors referred to on the back of the card was 1955-56. His 38 goals and 72 points over 67 games earned him the rookie of the year award in the WHL. He continued with 13 points in 14 playoff games, helping the Warriors to a WHL championship, beating the Vancouver Canucks in the final.
Between 1955-56 and 1959-60, Barry Cullen played in 219 regular season and 12 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Maple Leafs and Red Wings. His best campaign was 1957-58 when he scored 16 goals and assisted on 25 for 41 points.
