Details
Arnie Brown played all of six games with the Toronto Maple Leafs between 1961-62 and 1963-64. It was a February 22, 1964 trade to the New York Rangers that launched his NHL career. Going with him to the Big Apple were Bill Collins, Dick Duff, Bob Nevin and Rod Seiling while Andy Bathgate and Don McKenney went the other way.
The 15 goals scored in 1969-70 remained Brown’s career best. The stay-at-home blue liner totaled 44 goals over 681 regular season games in the NHL. 25 of those were over a two year span that included 1968-69 and 1969-70.
Brown came to Detroit midway through the 1970-71 season in a February 1, 1971 trade that included Tom Miller and Mike Robitaille for Larry Brown and Bruce MacGregor. He would stay with the Red Wings for the remainder of the season, along with all of 1971-72 before spending time with both the 1972 NHL expansion teams: the Atlanta Flames and New York Islanders.
Between 1961-62 and 1973-74, the Apsley, Ontario born Arnie Brown played 681 regular season and 22 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Maple Leafs, Rangers, Red Wings, Islanders and Flames. He played another 60 games in the WHA in 1974-75, split between the Vancouver Blazers and Baltimore Blades.
