Card Notes
Though he cannot rate as a scoring threat until he reached greater consistency, Andre does rank as a good sound wingman who handles his checking roles well and can usually be counted on to shackle any winger Blake puts him against.
Details
1959-60 was the last full season with the Montreal Canadiens for Andre Pronovost. 21 games into 1960-61, he was traded to the Boston Bruins for Jean-Guy Gendron. However, during his first four years with the Habs, Pronovost was a four-time Stanley Cup champion.
In his second year with Montreal, 1957-58, Andre put up a career best 16 goals in 66 games. Four of those 16 were game winners, including one of two he scored in a February 2, 1958 game against the Blackhawks at Chicago Stadium. Pronovost scored a pair in the second period 1:26 apart, both scored on Glenn Hall and assisted by Phil Goyette and Claude Provost. He also assisted on a third period goal by Goyette in the 3-1 win.
Between 1956-57 and 1967-68, Andre Pronovost played 556 regular season and 70 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens, Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota North Stars. Between 1964-65 and 1971-72, he spent all his time in the minors with exception of the eight games he played for the North Stars in 1967-68.
