Brian led the Blues with 17 power play goals in 1980-81 while adding 4 game winning goals during the season. A hard worker, he gives 100% during every game. Brian’s last amateur club was the Lethbridge Broncos of the WCHL in 1975-76.

The captain of the St. Louis Blues from 1979-80 to 1987-88, Brian Sutter could score goals and didn’t back down from anyone. His style of hockey shone through in 1982-83 when he scored a career high 46 goals while finishing third in the NHL with 254 penalty minutes, behind Randy Holt and Tiger Williams.
Sutter played two seasons with the Lethbridge Broncos. In his second campaign, 1975-76, Brian finished just behind Steve Tambellini in team scoring with 36 goals and 92 points. In his typical fashion, he led the team with 233 penalty minutes. In a rough and tumble WCHL, this didn’t even place him in the top 10.
The St. Louis Blues selected Sutter in the second round of the 1976 NHL Amateur draft, 20th overall. The Blues had a great draft that year, taking Bernie Federko in the first round and goalie Mike Liut in the fourth.
Between 1976-77 and 1987-88, Brian Sutter appeared in 779 regular season and 65 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the St. Louis Blues. His jersey number 11 was retired by the Blues in 1988. At the time, it was just the third number retired by the team behind Bob Gassoff (3) and Barclay Plager (8).
