Former rookie-of-the-year, Dave is a terrific all-around player. He’s captain of the Leafs and hopes to rebound from only 18 goals last season. Winner of both the Lady Byng and Conn Smythe Trophies.

Dave Keon certainly did rebound in 1972-73 for the Toronto Maple Leafs. His 37 goals missed his career high by just a single marker. Keon’s best came in 1970-71 when he scored 38. His point total of 73 was three off his career best of 76 from 1970-71.

Keon won the Calder Trophy in 1960-61 with an impressive 20 goal season with the Maple Leafs after making the jump to the NHL straight out of junior hockey. He was a runaway winner for the award with nearly twice as many votes as second place Bob Nevin.

He finished his NHL career with his name on the Lady Byng Trophy twice. Keon won the award in consecutive seasons, 1961-62 and 1962-63. He was also a two time winner of the Paul Deneau Trophy, the WHA equivalent of the Lady Byng. Dave won that award in 1976-77 and 1977-78 with the New England Whalers.

Of course, Dave was the recipient of the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1966-67, the last season the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup championship. It was the fourth of four Cups Keon would win with the Buds.

Between 1960-61 and 1981-82, Dave Keon appeared in 1,296 regular season and 92 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hartford Whalers. As well, he played in 301 regular season and 36 playoff games in the WHA between 1975-76 and 1978-79 with the Minnesota Fighting Saints, Indianapolis Racers and New England Whalers. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986.
