Details

There’s nothing written on the back of this card about Guy Chouinard but the trivia snippet about Kent Nilsson is still significant to this day. Nilsson’s 131 points and 82 assists still stand as Calgary Flames single season records. The team record for goals belongs to Lanny McDonald with his 66 in 1982-83.

Guy Chouinard was a 50 goal scorer with the Flames but during their time in Atlanta. In 1978-79, he finished with exactly 50, along with 57 assists for 107 points. He was fourth in the NHL that year for goal scoring, 19 behind leader Mike Bossy of the New York Islanders. His point total placed him sixth in the race for the Art Ross Trophy, 27 behind winner Bryan Trottier.

1982-83 would be the end of Chouinard’s time with the Flames. Prior to the 1983-84 NHL season, he was dealt to the St. Louis Blues. He would play just one year with the Blues before calling it a career.

Between 1974-75 and 1983-84, Guy Chouinard appeared in 578 regular season and 46 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Flames and Blues. He moved on to a successful coaching career in the QMJHL.
