Details
First off, this a major uncorrected error card. Jacques Lemaire was never traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Buffalo Sabres. This card was made solely on a rumour. The back of the card has no mention of the Sabres and has Lemaire playing for Montreal.
His outstanding junior career was played with the Montreal Junior Canadiens from 1963-64 to 1965-66. Lemaire’s 41 goals in 1965-66 tied him for second with Mickey Redmond of the Peterborough Petes, three behind Redmond’s teammate Danny Grant.
Did he get his 50 goal season? No. Jacques did score 20 or more in each of this 12 NHL seasons, all with the Habs. His career best came in 1972-73 when he scored 44. More importantly, he helped Montreal win eight Stanley Cup championships over his 12 years.
