Reg was selected by the Racers from the Baltimore Blades in WHA special draft of June, 1975. He played his junior hockey with the London Knights then was drafted by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1973 amateur draft. Reg joined the WHA with Los Angeles Sharks scoring 35 points in 1973-74.

Details

Reg Thomas was a standout offensive threat with the London Knights. He topped 100 points in his final two of three seasons with the team. In 1972-73, he tied for seventh in the league with 52 goals and was fourth with 135 points. His totals were sandwiched between teammates Dennis Ververgaert and Dennis Maruk.

At the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft, Thomas was taken in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks, 29th overall. He would not see action with the Blackhawks, choosing the WHA route instead. The only time Reg spent in the NHL was 39 games with the Quebec Nordiques during the 1979-80 season.

The Los Angeles Sharks drafted Thomas eighth overall in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft. He played 428 regular season and 19 playoff games in the World Hockey Association between 1973-74 and 1978-79 with the Sharks, Michigan Stags, Baltimore Blades, Indianapolis Racers and Cincinnati Stingers.
