Details
Forbes Kennedy had an excellent 1957-58 NHL season with the Detroit Red Wings after coming over from the Chicago Blackhawks. However, his point total went from 27 to just five in 1958-59 and by the following season, he was relegated to the minors.
Originally a prospect of the Montreal Canadiens, Kennedy was traded to the Blackhawks prior to the 1956-57 NHL season. His numbers were decent for Chicago in that rookie season but he was part of the deal that sent Glenn Hall and Ted Lindsay to the Blackhawks in July, 1957.
In 1957-58 with the Red Wings, Forbes was second in the NHL with 135 penalty minutes, 17 PIM behind leader Lou Fontinato. In 1968-69, his final year in the NHL (split between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs), Kennedy led in that department with 219, 19 more than runner-up Jim Dorey from the Leafs.
Between 1956-57 and 1968-69, Forbes Kennedy played 603 regular season and 12 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
