A brilliant junior career with Peterborough of the Ontario Hockey Association prepared Mickey for his rise to the big time. His junior linemates were Andre Lacroix and Danny Grant. Has a wicked shot and is a very fast skater.

Mickey Redmond came to the Detroit Red Wings in a January 13, 1971 trade with the Montreal Canadiens that also saw Guy Charron and Bill Collins go to the Motor City in exchange for Frank Mahovlich. Redmond was able to put up a 20 goal season in the 61 combined games he played between the two clubs in 1970-71.
Despite scoring just three goals in his first 15 games of the 1971-72 NHL season, Redmond put up 42 by the time the year was over. Included was his first NHL hat trick, recorded on February 6, 1972 at Detroit Olympia in an 8-2 win over the California Golden Seals. Arnie Brown assisted on all three and added a helper on an Alex Delvecchio goal for a four point game.
In 1965-66, Redmond was teamed with Lacroix and Grant in Peterborough and the trio combined for 125 goals over a 48 game schedule. This was more than half of the team’s total of 211. The following year, with his linemates gone pro, Mickey led the league with 51 goals, a ten goal edge over runner-up Derek Sanderson.
Between 1967-68 and 1975-76, Mickey Redmond played 538 regular season and 16 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. He was a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Habs and was the first in Red Wings history to score 50 with 52 in 1972-73.
