First off, there is an ERROR on the back of this 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee hockey card in both English and French. The Calder Cup is the award handed out to the playoff champion in the American Hockey League. It should read the Calder Trophy, the award Perreault won as rookie of the year in 1970-71 with the Buffalo Sabres.

The Lady Byng Trophy came in 1972-73. That year, he scored 28 goals and assisted on 60 for 88 points while sitting just five minor penalties. His first penalty came in on opening night against the Atlanta Flames. However, Atlanta did not get a power play as Bob Paradise of the Flames went off at the same time. Gil had a goal and assist in the 5-3 win.

1977-78 saw Perreault reach the 40 goal plateau for the second of three times during his NHL career. Included were four hat tricks, two of those went with a pair of assists for five point games. His fourth came in a 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Barons. He scored all of Buffalo’s goals while putting five shots on Cleveland goalie Gary Edwards. Rene Robert assisted on all three.

Between 1970-71 and 1986-87, Gilbert Perreault played 1,191 regular season and 90 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Buffalo Sabres. Perreault was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990.
