Details
J.C. Tremblay first saw action in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens during the 1959-60 season, appearing in eleven games while spending the rest of the campaign in the EPHL with the Hull-Ottawa Canadiens. His first full season with the Habs was 1961-62.
Although he scored just 57 goals over 794 regular season games in the NHL, Tremblay got his fair share of points by being a setup man. In his final two years in the league before jumping to the WHA, J.C. recorded more than 50 helpers in each campaign.
His first NHL goal was scored on January 25, 1961 at Maple Leaf Gardens. It was his sixth game of 29 with the Canadiens in 1960-61. In a 5-3 loss to Toronto, Tremblay scored the opening goal at 4:55 of the first, unassisted, putting one past Johnny Bower.
Between 1959-60 and 1971-72, Jean Claude Tremblay played 794 regular season and 108 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Montreal Canadiens. He helped the Habs to five Stanley Cup championships. In the 1971 win, Tremblay contributed 17 points in 20 games.
J.C. was also a mainstay in the World Hockey Association. Tremblay played with the Quebec Nordiques for the duration of the WHA’s existence from 1972-73 to 1978-79, appearing in 454 regular season and 34 playoff games. He helped the Nordiques win an Avco World Trophy title in 1976-77.
