Card Notes
Gary Aldcorn would appear in just five games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in that 1958-59 season, his last with the team. However, that same year, his numbers were spectacular with the Rochester Americans in the AHL. In 66 games with the Amerks, he scored 37 goals and totaled 79 points.
The following year, 1959-60, Aldcorn played his first to two full seasons in the NHL. With the Detroit Red Wings, he had a career year with 22 goals and 51 points. This placed him third on the Wings in scoring behind Hockey Hall of Fame members Gordie Howe and Norm Ullman.
1960-61 was split between the Red Wings and Boston Bruins. He was able to play a full 70 game schedule despite switching clubs. His offensive numbers fell off a cliff with a total of just four goals and 13 points.
His NHL career was up after that 1960-61 season but he continued to play Senior A hockey in Winnipeg. He played for Canada at the 1965 World Championships. The tournament was held in Finland and Canada placed fourth behind the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia and Sweden.
