Tim enjoyed an outstanding rookie campaign for the Flyers in 1980-81. Included among his statistics were 6 power play goals, 7 game winning goals and one game tying goal. Tim joined the Flyers from the Kingston Canadiens of the OHA. Tim played amateur hockey with the Windsor Spitfires of the OMJHL in 1976-77.

First off, the Kingston Canadians went with the English spelling and not the French version “Canadiens” written on the back of the card. Second, Tim Kerr played all of nine games for his hometown Windsor Spitfires in 1976-77 before a three year stint in Kingston.
Kerr came to the Philadelphia Flyers undrafted. His major junior numbers gave no indication that he would become one of the great snipers in the NHL. His first three years in the league also gave no indication. However, in 1983-84, Tim’s goal-scoring numbers jumped to 54 – the exact total of his first three years in the league.
Tim would reach the 50 goal plateau in four consecutive seasons, a feat that no other member of the Flyers has done. His 34 power play goals in 1985-86 still stand as an NHL record. The closest competitors are Dave Andreychuk and Leon Draisaitl, both with 32 powerplay goal campaigns.
Between 1980-81 and 1992-93, Tim Kerr played 655 regular season and 81 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Flyers, New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers. He was an NHL Second Team All-Star in 1986-87 and was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame in 1994. His 58 goals in each of the 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons rank him second in Philadelphia history behind just the 61 scored by Reg Leach in 1975-76.
