Mickey Redmond was the first of just six players in Detroit Red Wings history to reach the 50 goal plateau (Danny Grant, John Ogrodnick, Steve Yzerman, Sergei Federov and Ray Sheppard are the other five). Redmond and Yzerman are the only two to score 50 in multiple seasons. The franchise record belongs to Yzerman with his 65 goals in 1988-89.
The trade referred to in the info snippet on the back of this 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee hockey card occurred on January 13, 1971. Frank Mahovlich was the only player that went from the Red Wings to the Canadiens. Montreal gave up Mickey, Guy Charron and Bill Collins.
Between 1967-68 and 1975-76, Mickey Redmond played in 538 regular season and 16 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens and Red Wings. All 16 of his post season games were played with the Habs over two campaigns, 1967-68 and 1968-69. In both those years, the Canadiens were Stanley Cup champions.
